“But too many women don’t see motherhood as a vocation. The word “vocation” comes from the Latin word for “voice.” It means “a call.” I do believe with all my heart that there is no higher and no holier calling than motherhood.”
–Elizabeth Elliot
For the past six weeks I was given the honor to teach a photography class in my home. I had five wonderful students. It was such a joy to share the knowledge God has given me in photography to these young men and women. For one of the classes we did a photoshoot, so they could all get a taste of what it feels like “on the job”. I asked Lisa if she would be willing to be surrounded by a total of six people with cameras. She most graciously accepted. We had such a marvelous time capturing this wonderful woman of God and her sweet girls! Lisa demonstrates a willing vessel given to the cause of her King as she pours her life into her grown sons and each sweet daughter the Lord has gifted her. I can’t wait until your daughter from Columbia comes home Lisa! Standing alongside of you in prayer. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into the beautiful blessing of motherhood…
{MOTHERHOOD}
Motherhood. Is the glorious calling of the Lord. A heaven sent gift. Full of the most precious of moments. Joy-filled times and tear-filled times. The moments in the dead of night when the burdens of prayer rushes over you.
The anguish of your heart over the soul of you child, the tender guidance of the Father’s heart. . .
Here is a sweet, fragrant mouth to kiss; here are two more feet to make music with their pattering about your home.
Here is a soul to train for God; and the body in which it dwells is
{worthy of all it will cost}, since it is the abode of a kingly tenant.
One may see less of friends, but you have gained one dearer than them all, to whom, while you minister in Christ’s name, you make a willing sacrifice {the greatest of love} of what little leisure for your own recreation.
Yes, my precious child, you are welcome to her time, her strength, her health, her tenderest cares, to her lifelong prayers!
Oh, how rich is the calling of motherhood. how truly, wondrously blessed is the entrustment that the Lord has given.
